At last Benin republic releases Sunday Igboho

Report reaching the National update has it that the Government of the Republic of Benin has released the Yoruba Nation Activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho

Igboho has been in detention in Benin Republic since he was arrested at an airport in Cotonou by the neighbouring country’s security forces while trying to flee to Germany in July 2020.

The Leader of the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Banji Akintoye and a French Language Expert/ Deputy Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Wale Adeniran were on hand to receive the Activist who was released to them on Monday

In a statement by the Communications Secretary to Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, Akintoye described the release of Ighoho as a Triumph of Truth over Darkness in Yoruba Land.

An Abuja-based human rights lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi had indicated that the 49-year-old agitator would soon regain freedom.
Olajengbesi, in a Facebook post, stated that Igboho’s freedom would attract wild jubilation across Yorubaland.
