PDP holds peaceful Primary Election in Jigawa, selects candidates by consensus

The Jigawa state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has conducted it’s primary elections for the positions of members of the house of representatives state house of Assembly peacefully.

Reports from the event indicated that the party scheduled the two primary elections to take place two hours interval apart as the state Assembly primary election held at 12am while that of the house of representatives held at 2pm.

The delegates were seen converging at each of the 30 state assembly constituency headquarters, after that round of election the delegates moved to the headquarters of the 11 house of representatives constituency headquarters.

The National Update reports that the party adopted the consensus mode for selection of the candidates during the primary election

All the 30 state house Assembly and 11 house of representatives candidates were unopposed as affirmed by the delegates following the electoral law of the country.

Speaking after the primary elections, the state PDP chairman, Honourable Babandi Ibrahim Gumel expressed appreciation to the leader of the party in the state Alhaji Sule Lamido for his support and guidiance.

Alhaji Ibrahim explained that the exercise was peaceful and successful adding that he was highly impressed with the way and manner the exercise held.

According to him “This is indication that we prepared and ready to take over power from the ruling APC.
“The members of the party and general people of the state demonstrated their readiness to vote our party’s candidates. Because we did best and presented popular, credible and acceptable candidates”

He therefore commended the delegates, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security and Media practitioners for the job weldon.
